Food For The Day

I was reading Malachi yesterday and I loved these 3 verses.

Malachi 4:1-3
1 [a]"Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and that day that is coming will set them on fire," says the LORD Almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. 2 But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves. 3 Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act," says the LORD Almighty.
................ watch this little calf, he is so precious!

Chicken Salad Sandwich

John grilled chicken last night and he has been craving chicken salad sandwich, I found this recipe on the food network. It was wonderful!!
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 cups chopped, cooked chicken meat
1/2 cup blanched slivered almonds
1 stalk celery, chopped
DIRECTIONS
Place almonds in a frying pan. Toast over medium-high heat, shaking frequently. Watch carefully, as they burn easily.
In a medium bowl, mix together mayonnaise, lemon juice, and pepper. Toss with chicken, almonds, and celery.

Devonshire Cream

I have been reading up on Clotted Cream and Devon Cream or Devonshire Cream. I always read about these yummy creams in my English books and have always wanted to try them. I have tried Devonshire Cream on scones and it was very excellent! I made some tonight! Here is the recipe. It is one of the easy recipes though! I didn't feel up to making the harder version since it was so late.........

A DEVONSHIRE CREAM
2 c. sour cream
2 tbsp. powdered sugar
1 tsp. pure vanilla
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl, then refrigerate. Makes about two cups. The sweetened sour cream may then be served with scones and a big bowl of berries or even assorted jams.
Here is what I think is a most beautiful picture.....

Catherine The Great

I have to say that I love my Russian tea set! I brought it back two summers ago when I went to Russia to get my two brothers and sister! I loved this china before I went to Russia. My grandmother started collecting it through the years. My family and I would buy her a tea cup here and there for her. I always envied my grandmother's collection. When I visited her she would always serve me tea. I loved it!
 While my mother and I were in Russia I thought to myself, "It would be so cool to find Catherine the Great Tea Set!" Then I thought "yeah right, it would probably be too expensive." Well, we found the set in a flee market while we were tuouring moscow! It was $214.00. In the US it is double the price! My mother and I bought one each and a tea pot for my grandmother, because she would have killed us if we didn't get her anything for such good prices! I would love to go back to Russia to buy more!!! I use it everyday and it is still very beautiful to the eye!

Our quest!!!

Jonathan, and I have started a new movie quest. We started watching The Lord of the Rings series! I love this series but Jonathan has never quite understood the movies. I have been trying to set a good atmosphere for him so he could get a cozy, exciting and intriguing picture of the story. He always fell asleep when he watched them in the theater which to me is horrible! So each time we watch them, I'm going to try and make it really exciting for him. I'll light candles and turn the lights out, keep tea and toast near by so we feel like Hobbits. Last night we watched the first CD of the first fellow ship of the ring and John didn't want to stop. He understood more about the story because I helped him with some of the history behind the story. Tonight will be CD part two! Hopefully He will keep a good momentum. If he doesn't end up liking them then I shall be utterly dismayed and sadden beyond belief! Just kidding!!!

Tea Time With Lizy and Her Three Little Munchkins!!

 The four brought fruit and their cute little selves! We drank tea, read books and played with kitties! Of course the little ones had more cream in their cups than tea and tried to have more sugar than that what was offered to them, but still managed to enjoy their little meal!!!

Food for the day

Psalm 37

Of David.

1 [a] Do not fret because of evil men
or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3 Trust in the LORD and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4 Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him and he will do this:

6 He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,
the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when men succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8 Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

9 For evil men will be cut off,
but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.

11 But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy great peace.

12 The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;

13 but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.

15 But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.

16 Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;

17 for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the LORD upholds the righteous.

18 The days of the blameless are known to the LORD,
and their inheritance will endure forever.

19 In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20 But the wicked will perish:
The LORD's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields,
they will vanish—vanish like smoke.

21 The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;

22 those the LORD blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be cut off.

23 If the LORD delights in a man's way,
he makes his steps firm;

24 though he stumble, he will not fall,
for the LORD upholds him with his hand.

25 I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

26 They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be blessed.

27 Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.

28 For the LORD loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.
They will be protected forever,
but the offspring of the wicked will be cut off;

29 the righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.

30 The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom,
and his tongue speaks what is just.

31 The law of his God is in his heart;
his feet do not slip.

32 The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
seeking their very lives;

33 but the LORD will not leave them in their power
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34 Wait for the LORD
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

35 I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a green tree in its native soil,

36 but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37 Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
there is a future [b] for the man of peace.

38 But all sinners will be destroyed;
the future [c] of the wicked will be cut off.

39 The salvation of the righteous comes from the LORD;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

40 The LORD helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

Socks

Well, Himilce and little Elon left and now John and I are awaiting their quick return!
 When we dropped them off at the airport we came home and I went into the little room where they were staying in, the little crib was empty, just the left over blankets, pillows. I was so sad.  What really made me miss them was the little Elon socks I found under the sofa.

Tea Time

I had the nicest tea party with myself on a nice warm sunny Saturday afternoon! It was the time when you had lunch awhile ago but your not yet ready for dinner and the house is cold so you find the room with all the sun shine  and put the tea on!! I found my book that I had not read for a while but was ready to read again.  I pulled the valentines chocolate out that I got on sale after valentines day, Of course the tea things had to be pulled out as well and the silver tea set and I had my little tea party! It was very relaxing and restful for a Saturday afternoon!! I highly recommend it!

A Spoon Full Of Sugar Helps the Medicine Go Down

I told my boss this week that I will no longer be able to work for him. I was kinda scared to tell him because I know he relies on me. I was relieved after because he took it so well and that I actually am free after a couple of weeks, maybe less. I'm a nanny and I take care of 4 kids. One 11 year old, one 8 year old, and a set of twins that are 4. It is a sad situation because its a divorce family. The kids are extremely angry and hard to work with. After starting the job I was shocked by their behavior and attitude with me and their father. I always knew that divorce was hard on kids but never realized how hard and destructive it is. I know that God placed me in this home for a time and I used that time as best as I could. I taught the little twin girls about the Lord. They had a kids bible that no one had ever read to them before and they loved it. They called it the "God Book". We read at meal time, we read at play time, at bed time, in the car time. They wanted to know every detail about every story. I noticed that the father was listening to our "God Book" at times and liked it. I have told the father about my faith in the Lord. He seems hungry. I know I have been a light to him for the last 3 months so I have faith that I planted seeds in their lives. Its the Lord's job to allow them to grow and some one else to reap what I have sown.
Well, to make a long story short, He needs a live in Nanny and I can't provide that for him because of course I'm married and want to start my own family eventually! So I will now be looking for a new job coming up. So as Marry Poppins planted seeds in a family's life that was in need, I hope I did the same. And as everyone who has watched the Marry Poppins movie knows, she had to leave and let the family use the wisdom that she offered them.
