A Book Review

Vittoria Cottage by D.E. Stevenson. Written 1949 in England. A very charming relaxing book that has inspiration seeping through the pages! A story of a scottish woman with 3 almost grown children. Takes place after England (now finished with WW II) becomes a socialist country, also recovering from the war. She befriends a man who has lost all that he holds dear to him from the war and has taken refuge from his troubles and sorrow in a this small town in Scotland where he befriends the inhabitants who live in Vittoria Cottage. The story continues in the next series called Music In the Hills.
I loved reading Vittoria Cottage because it is not a silly romance novel like you find so easily today. It holds a foundation of real country life that is safe and interesting. For some reason the age in this particular time is very interesting and very inspiring to me. The values in these books are no where to bee seen now a days.

Davene, yes you would like this author! I love a lot of her books. My favorite is, The Young Clementina.

Elizabeth, I found the book picture on the site I was telling you about!

Meredith, Your so sweet! I am happy to be back. I haven't had a lot to write about lately. I don't know what the matter is? But I'm trying to be strict with myself and write at least once a day.
